Booking Details

The site is about 2 acres in size and comprises a split-level camping field and a camp building, which is elevated and overlooks the camping area. The whole site would be classed as simple and ideal for groups who wish to be self-sufficient and camp independently of modern, sophisticated facilities (back to basics).  Click here for directions.

The toilets and HQ building are wired for electric lights, but you must provide your own generator. The inlet socket is at the rear of the HQ, and the residual current device (RCD) is inside the mower store.

Exclusive use of the whole site and building: £80 per night. (2026)
For small groups, our charges may be varied by arrangement.
The minimum booking is usually 2 nights, but in July and August it is 7 nights.

Booking conditions for hire of Conwy District Scouts Campsite & Campsite Facilities.

1. The hirers are responsible for ensuring that all facilities used are left clean and tidy.
2. All gas and water to be turned off upon departure, unless otherwise advised.
3. All rubbish is to be removed from the site.
4. Before leaving the site, please ensure that all windows and doors are locked and that the gate is closed behind you.
5. Vehicles are to be parked immediately inside the camp entrance and along the trackway. Vehicles are not permitted on the field.
6. Report any damage to the booking secretary or any member of the service team (even if you did not do it).
7. The following are not allowed on the site: Fireworks, Firearms, Chinese Lanterns, Loud Music, or other amplified sounds. Remember, this is rural Wales, with sheep, cattle, and countryside holidaymakers. We have been at peace with our neighbours since 1931.
8. Conserve wood – use only dead or fallen wood. Use wood appropriately. The adjacent woodlands are owned by the Woodland Trust, with plenty of paths and trails to enjoy, but No Woodcutting is permitted.
9. Litter sweep before departure. There should be no wood chippings, sweet papers or other rubbish and debris, which may damage the mowing machine.
10. Toilets – when you use them, please clean them.
11. Consider neighbours; keep noise to a minimum at night.
12. Cancellation should be notified to the booking secretary as soon as possible.
13. Hirers are responsible for the costs of any damages.
14. The Management Team reserves the right to cancel bookings.
15. Hirers are responsible for their own equipment and the insurance thereof.
16. No dogs or other animals are allowed onto Rowen Scout Campsite at any time, for hygiene reasons (except assistance dogs by prior arrangement). If any adult brings a dog (or any other animal) with them when dropping off or picking up youngsters at camp, the dog/animal should remain in the car.

There will be no one on site when you arrive, so you must obtain the code before you travel. Without the code, you cannot access the camp HQ building.

The key is kept in a key safe, fastened to a support beam of the lean-to shelter. The shelter is to the left of the HQ building.

The combination code for the key safe will be provided after the camp fee has been paid in full.

All other keys are hung in the kitchen.

Access to the site HQ building is via the kitchen door key.

• The HQ building kitchen does not include pots, pans, utensils, or cutlery, so campers must bring their own equipment.
• Campers should bring their own first aid equipment.
• The gas to the cookers in the HQ kitchen is included in the camp fee-there are no additional charges.
• The gas valve is located inside the HQ bunk-room.

Summer campers must be off-site by 12 noon on their departure day.  The very earliest arrival time on the first day would be after 13:00 hours.

Our campsite may only be booked by members of the Scout Association or Girlguiding UK.

Your initial enquiries MUST be made by emailing your proposed camping dates to Mr John Castle, our booking secretary.

The booking procedure is as follows:

1. Email John with your required dates.
2. If the required dates are not available, John will advise you and send details of the available dates. You can then choose another date.
3. If the required date is available, John will advise you by email.
4. Your reservation will then be held for 14 days. Within those 14 days, you should:
   a) Email John with the following information:
   -Scout Group Name.
   -Name of camp permit holder.
   -Group contact name and their mobile phone number.
   -Date of arrival.
   -Date of departure.
   -Confirmation that all booking conditions will be observed.
   b) Pay a deposit of £80 by sending a cheque to John (made payable to Conwy District Scout Association).
   Or a BACS payment to:

   c) Inform John that the deposit cheque is in the post or has been paid by BACS.
5.  If you cancel your booking, we will offer the date to other groups. If another group takes your dates, your deposit will be refunded.
6. The full balance of your camp fees should be paid at least 14 days before your camp.
   When paid, email John with the details, and he will send you the key safe code so you can access the kitchen door key. The code will change regularly.
