Conwy Scout District

The Birth Place Of Scouting In North Wales

Inspiring the next generation

Welcome!

To Conwy Scout District

Conwy Scout District supports young people across Conwy by delivering fun, adventurous Scouting programmes that build skills for life, confidence, and community-minded values in a safe, supportive environment. We encourage our young people to do more, learn more and be more.
We help young people develop the skills they need to shine. In line with Scout values (Integrity, Respect, Care, Belief, Co-operation), we believe in preparing young people with #SkillsForLife, to create better futures. In Scouting, we learning by doing, together.

The Conwy Scout District currently has over 300 young people (and growing) enjoying the fun and adventure that Scouting brings. Getting together one evening a week to forget about school or life online and get stuck into something different.

There are many reasons to join Scouting in the Conwy Scout District. Scouts is a safe, welcoming place for all young people aged 4 to 24 to make new friends, try new things and dive into real-life, face-to-face adventures.

About Us

Conwy Scout District encompasses some of the most beautiful countryside in Britain. We are mainly located in the Snowdonia National Park, with mountains, uplands, river valleys, and 20 miles of coastline to enjoy.

Conwy Scout District is one of the newest in the UK, formed in 1999 and stretching from Abergele to Llanfairfechan along the North Wales coast and up the Conwy Valley almost to Corwen near Llangollen and the Lledr Valley towards Blaenau Ffestiniog.

We have our own Rowen Scout Campsite located in Rowen (Gwersyll Parc Mawr).

Conwy Scout District is one of the four districts in Area Scouts Eryri a Môn. We have five thriving Scout Groups and two Explorer Scout Units.

We are:

  • 1st Conwy Scout Group, Conwy.
  • 3rd Colwyn Bay Scout Group, Old Colwyn.
  • Ormes Scout Group, Llandudno.
  • 1st Gwydyr Scout Group, Betws-y-Coed.
  • 3rd Rhos-on-Sea Scout Group (5th Colwyn Bay), Rhos-on-Sea.
  • Ormes District Explorer Scout Unit, Llandudno.
  • 1st Gwydyr District Explorer Scout Unit, Betws-y-Coed.

Be a Volunteer

Help lead the adventure.

Scouting is all about experiencing new things, supporting your community, getting stuck in, and building confidence – that goes for young people as well as adults. Volunteering as an adult is a fantastic way to gain skills that you’ll use in all aspects of life.
